'Agent Vinod' has now moving to 2012, hence setting the stage for 'Ladies v/s Ricky Behl' to stand firm on its 9th December release date. Till a few weeks back there was a period of uncertainty though since the Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer was also arriving on the same date. Though there were murmurs that the Ranveer Singh starrer would move ahead to avoid the competition, the film's producers (Yash Raj) stood their stand.
"Chopras are known for being quite particular when it comes to their release dates," a trade expert adds, "Once they announce a release date, they seldom change their plans. Even though 'Agent Vinod' was massive competition, there was no intention whatsoever for Ranveer and his ladies to look the other way. Koyi chance hi nahi tha move karne ka."
There was also a sentimental value attached to the film's arrival this December. After all, the same team of Ranveer, Anushka, Chopras, director Maneesh Sharma and writer Habib Faisal had tasted much critical acclaim and good commercial response when they came with 'Band Baaja Baaraat' around the same time last year.
"This isn't all as Anushka's 'Rab Be Bana Di Jodi' too had released in the same week three years back. This is pretty much the date that Chopras have kept aside for their newest find with whom they have already made four films and would also start a fifth soon (with Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif)," the source adds, "It is good that Saif is now coming in 2012."
